Clinical Psychology:My Dream

The desire to become a clinical psychology came in when I was in the second yeat of my bachelor's degree in psychology. When I was young,I liked to become a medical doctor because my parents were both medical practitioners. When I got to university, the ide changed.

All the branches in clinical psychology are extremely intersting such that I'm at the moment contemplating which area to pursue a post-graduate degree in(child psycholgy, adult mental health, geriatrics, psychology of learning disabilties, psychology of substance abuce, emotional health).

I love working with people, listening to them and helping them.Everyone's problem becomes mine.I can handle stress so well.Psychology of substance abuse seems to be my top choice at the moment because many people in my family are drug adicts and have several psychological and medical problems due to substance abuse but I have not yet made up my mind.

I encourage people to pursue a career in psychology. It opens your mind about everything around you.You then begin to think ahead of others. You then begin to have no or less difficulty in solving behavioral problems.

I have "the dream" of being a professor of psychology and I believe God will see me through.

I LOVE CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGY

HOW USEFUL ARE MEDICAL CHECK-UPS?

we have to embrace preventive medicine. It means having regular scheduled appointments called check-ups.it's vital like not neglecting conditions that need immediate attention.

Check-ups detect conditions while they are still treatable or while diagnosis' favorable. Not all conditions have symptoms in their early stages.Check-ups make treatment of problems much easier and could even save your life.

A check-up exposes warning signs of for serios disorders.it may reveal you have high blood pressure.while these problems may not be serios themselves, without treatment, they can cause an array of problems.if these are found and treated, you could avoid them becoming more serios.

A check-up is the best time to discuss those problems you feel are too small for a special visit.while you may feel these oroblems are not big enough for an idividual doctor's visit, getting taken care of can cause a major improvement in your life.

Medical check-ups are good times to update on new medical information and technology available.Discussing them with your doctor can help you update on mdical news vital to you

OBSTETRIC FISTULA(vaginal fistula)

Obstetric fistula is a severe medical condition in which a fistula(hole) develops between either the rectum and vaginal or between the bladder and vaginal after severe or failed childbirth, when adequate medical care is not given
SYMPTOMS AND SIGNS
Resulting disorders typically are incontinence, severe infections and ulcerations of the vaginal tract and often paralysis caused by nerve damage.sufferers of this disorder are subject to severe social stigma due to odor, perception of uncleanliness, mistaken assumption of veneral diseases and in some cases the inability to have kids

CAUSES
Develops when a prolonged labor presses the unborn child so tightly in the birth canal that blood flow's cut off from the surrounding tissues which necrotise and eventually rot away. The injury's rarely caused by female genital cutting, poorly performed abortions or pelvic fractures.potential direct causes are sexual abuse and rape, other surgical trauma, gynecological cancers or other related radiotherapy treatment, limited or no access to obstetrical care or emergency services.Distal causes are poverty, early marriage and childbirth, harmful traditional practices, nonavailability and nonaccess to medical faclities with trained staff and specialized surgical equipments needed for cesarean births.early or closed spaced pregnancies, female genital mutilation, lack of education, malnutrition linked to underdevelopment of female body and no personal knowledge about and experience with childbirth may cause obstetric fistula

PREVENTION
Its prevented by providing access to obstetric care, support from trained healthcare professionals throughout pregnancy, providing access to family planning, promoting practice of spacing between births and supporting women in the education and posponing early marriage.prevention of obstructed prolonged labor and fistula should preferably begin as early as possible in each female's life(eg improved nutrition).Access to timely and safe child delivery and educating girls can help avoid fistula

TREATMENT
It is available through reconstructive surgery as it helps women to live normal lives and have more kids, but it's recommended to have a cesarean section to prevent fistula from reoccuring.post-operative care prevents infection.Girls not candidates to surgery can resort to urostomy and a bag for the colection of urine is worn on a daily basis.the largest challenge's that most women have no idea fistula's treated.because it's a condition of shame and embarrassment most women hide themselves and their condition and suffer in silence with no relief.with treatment, women rejoin their families without shame from their condition for the leaking and smell are no longer there.urethral catherization is also useful.
PROGNOSIS
if left untreated, ulcerations and infections can persist as well as kidney disease & kidney failure leading to death.urinal & fecal leaking persist.due to constant leaking and smell, women are descriminated against.

Dogs with rabies virus.

It is good to know the symptoms rabies-infected dogs have. This helps you to avoid being attacked by them( like running away).

Rabies is a viral disease that causes acute encephalitis(inflammation of the brain)in warm-blooded animals. It is zoonotic(i.e transmitted by animals) most commonly by a bite from an infected animal. For a human, rabies is almost invariably fatal if post-exposure prophylaxis is not administered prior to the onset of severe symptoms. The rabies virus infects the central nervos system, ultimately causin disease in the brain and death( zoonic neuroinvasive disease also called hydrophobia).

Dogs infected with rabies show signs and symptoms of foaming at the mouth, extreamly mean and aggressive. However,in some cases, infected dogs can be very calm and tame so you must really be careful not to stay near or get bitten by strange dogs(or animals in general).Death is always certain once a dog is infected with rabies virus.

This deadly disease can be prevented with a proper vaccine from a veterinarian.Rabies remain viable for less than a day and can not live long outside the host.

Stage of Rabies Infection in Dogs.

The infection of the virus in dogs is divided into 3 stages:
PREDOMAL STAGE can last up to 6months long as the virus slowly spreads over the nervos system and travel to the brain. At this stage, infected dogs sometimes may not show any sign or symptom at all.common symptoms at this stage are fever, lethargy, loss of appetite, changes in behavior, chewing at the bite site, and change of bark tone.

FURIOS STAGE may last for several days(usually 2-4days) after the predomal stage. However, not all dogs experience this stage. It is the most dangeros stage because infected dogs can spread rabies disease. At this stage, they are extreamly mean and aggressive, totally uncontrollable, breaks its own teeth by biting objects, constant growing, biting, dilated pupils, restless, disorientation and seizures.

PARALYTIC STAGE last for 2-4days and the symptoms are choking, dropping of the lower jaw, unable to swallow any food, foaming at the mouth, paralysis of jaws, throat, and chewing.

After the paralytic stage, infected dogs will ususlly be in coma.It may also explain respiratory problems and failure then pass away.

Exercise While Sitting at your Computer:oWhy & How

Sitting at your computer in the office or at home all day is not perfect for the body as it causes backaches due to bad posture & eye strain & other effects. The following are simple steps you can take to iprove your posture and keep youe health in check.

STAND up every half hour to walk around. It ensures blood circulation in your arms & legs,& will keep them from getting too strained.you may use stairs instead of elevators.

TAKE a break from focusing on the screen.Every 30minutes or so,shift your focus from the mornitor.scan around other objects in the room.It promotes eye movement & lessens chances of eye irritation & headaches.

TAKE advantage of downtime created by rebooting or large file downloads.Take short walks around your floor. You can do sit-ups if you've less co-workers who wouldn't mind.

TAKE a few deep breaths. To work your abdominal muscles, hold your stomach for a few seconds when breathing in,release when breathing out.Let your lungs get fresh air by taking outside walk.

DO simple stretching.Stretch your arms, legs, neck & torso while sitting. It prevents stiffness.

HAVE a water bottle by your side and make a habit of drinking some every half hour. It'll make you feel more alert.Take trips to your water refilling station to refill your glass so that you can walk & exercise legs at thesame time.

OBSERVE the proper sitting posture in a good chair that's designed for desk work.Your back be straight, shoulders back & top of your mornitor be level with your eyes.if u gotta look up or down, adjust the height of your screen.keep your legs bent at the knees so that the knees are only slightly higher than your hipsfeet should be flat on the floor or on a step stool of some sort.your wrist shouldn't lie on the keyboard or mouse pad unless u have a pad with a wrist rest. This prevents carpel tunnel syndrom.
